NV Obiz - Prosecco Brut (750ml)
Obiz is a family-run winery founded in 1997 in Borgo Gortani, a small hamlet in Friuli close to the Adriatic Sea, in an area whose winemaking history stretches back to Roman times, evidenced by ancient wine amphorae uncovered on the property. The current owner took over the estate after completing agricultural studies, following in the footsteps of a grandfather who farmed the same land, and has since built Obiz into a winery known for organic and biodynamic practices alongside a forward-looking use of disease-resistant grape varieties.
This Prosecco is made from Glera grapes grown on sandy clay soils shaped by their proximity to the sea and shielded by the nearby Julian Pre-Alps. The vineyard sits at a low, cool elevation that benefits from Adriatic breezes, and the fruit is farmed organically and biodynamically before being made into a lively, pure expression of the grape. The approach favors freshness and immediacy over heavier winemaking techniques, letting the fruit's natural character shine through.
The wine shows bright aromas of green apple, white flowers, and citrus, lifted by fine, persistent bubbles. On the palate it is crisp and lively, dry, and refreshing. It works well as an aperitif or alongside light appetizers and celebrations.
