A wine of uncommon ambition and artisanal soul from one of Argentina's most exciting boutique producers. Escala Humana was founded by husband and wife team Ayelén and Germán Masera, with Germán drawing on years of winemaking experience in the Uco Valley and a passionate dedication to the region's forgotten vineyards and varieties — and the Credo Malbec is their most serious and compelling statement. Sourced from the El Facha vineyard in El Peral, Tupungato, planted in 1944 at 3,750 feet elevation in clay loam with granite and calcareous sections, these are old vines of extraordinary character rooted in one of the Uco Valley's most historically significant and undersung terroirs.

Destemmed, fermented on native yeasts with a 35-day maceration, aged for 24 months in French oak barrels, then an additional 12 months in bottle before release — unfiltered and unfined, with just 175 cases produced. The result is a Malbec of profound depth and Old World sensibility

97 Points
"Another stand-out in the Escala Humana portfolio is the 2022 Credo Malbec. It originates from El Peral and underwent a 30-40 day maceration with 30% stem inclusion before basket pressing and maturing in 500-liter well-seasoned François Frères barrels. Opening with a deep, measured and refined bouquet of opaque fruits, purple flowers and escalating spice-driven accents, the palate is seamless, elegant and dense while maintaining a taut, lifted core. It concludes with an intense, rich finish elongated by ultra-refined tannins and impeccable composure. This is a compelling and sophisticated expression of Uco Valley Malbec with a stylistic nod to Cornas."
