The second wine of Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste — one of Pauillac's most beloved and consistent Fifth Growths — offering a back-door entry into one of the appellation's most reliable addresses at a fraction of the Grand Vin's price. The nose is amazingly attractive — summer pudding notes with more volume than usual, plus a deep minerality that carries through to the palate, bringing control and backbone to the lush fruit; long and perfectly balanced with neat, grainy tannins that sit right on the tail of the wine, refreshing the palate and allowing the fruit to keep its shape all the way through — a superb Lacoste-Borie. Complex and juicy on the palate with fine ripeness, pickled cherry, and ripe tannins, with some nougat on the finish and definite ageing potential. Aged in 50% new French oak.
