2025 Chateau Pontet Canet - Pauillac (Bordeaux Future ETA 2028)
Pontet Canet: pure exception in every sense
Pontet-Canet, founded in the early 18th century, has been run by the Tesseron family since 1975. Alfred Tesseron took over the estate in 1994, introducing environmentally friendly farming practices and precise winemaking techniques. His daughter, Justine, has carried on his work since 2015, bringing fresh energy to the estate. A pioneer of biodynamics among Bordeaux’s classified growths, Pontet-Canet benefits from an exceptional terroir and uses concrete amphorae for part of its production, helping preserve the wine’s aromatic purity.
The 2025 vintage - A meticulously mastered vintage extremes
"The 2025 Pontet-Canet is a wine of exquisite class." Antonio Galloni
Splendid, the 2025 vintage is concentrated, juicy, expressive, structured and elegant, without a doubt an exceptional vintage for the estate and a most remarkable Pontet-Canet!
After a milder-than-average winter, the vintage began with a particularly damp April. While cloud cover protected the vines from frost, it also created an early risk of mildew, now a recurring challenge. The mild winter and spring rain led to early, uniform budburst.
On April 27, the weather changed dramatically. Temperatures remained warm, but little or no rain meant exceptionally dry conditions. Over the following four months, the vineyard saw only 96 mm of rainfall, and the estate’s vines progressed quickly from one phenological stage to the next.Â
Extreme conditions were kept under control, and the grapes ripened “in the shade,” preserving their energy. Rain returned to the estate at the end of August, revitalizing the vine.
