2010 Chateau D'Issan - Margaux (750ml)
D'Issan's moated, gothic-towered estate on the southern edge of Margaux turned in one of its most complete efforts in 2010, a vintage that stands alongside 2009 in the modern Bordeaux pantheon. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot from punishingly low yields (22 hl/ha), it shows dense purple color with aromatics of spring flowers, blueberry and black raspberry layered over cassis, tar and charcoal. Medium-to-full-bodied and remarkably pure, with the structure to reward patience — approachable in 4-5 years but built to cellar for 25-30. Fifteen years on, this is entering its prime drinking window.
