2019 Hacienda Lopez de Haro - Tempranillo Rioja Reserva (750ml)

Made under the Vintae umbrella by Ricardo Arambarri, this Reserva is sourced from old-vine, bush-trained Tempranillo grown on poor, well-drained limestone-clay soils at 500 to 600 meters in the Sonsierra area of Rioja Alta, a terroir the estate specifically sought out for its structure and elegance. A blend of 85% Tempranillo and 15% Graciano, it sees 20 months in French and American oak before further bottle aging. Expect a nose of plum, balsamic notes, licorice, and forest floor, with a round, unctuous palate showing ripe, sweet tannins and a long, spicy finish. A genuine overachiever in the category, showing real complexity and classic Rioja character well above its price point.
