The 2024 G.D. Vajra Langhe DOC Rosso blends eight native Piedmont varieties into a structured, soil-driven red that captures the distinct microclimates of the Langhe hills. Nebbiolo and Dolcetto form the backbone of this vintage, supplemented by smaller percentages of Barbera, Freisa, Albarossa, and rare heirloom clones Slarina and Chatus. All fruit originates from organically farmed parcels in Barolo, La Morra, Novello, and Serralunga d’Alba, harvested sequentially from early September through late October to ensure peak phenolic maturity.

Fermentation occurs separately in large vertical vats using gentle manual punchdowns, followed by a spontaneous malolactic and several months of resting primarily in stainless steel. The wine presents a violet-tinged red color with an aromatic profile marked by fresh blossom, ripe red and dark stone fruit, dried hay, and cured tobacco. Bright berry flavors drive the palate, layering over a pronounced graphite minerality that lends tension to a medium-full body. Soft grip tannins frame the experience, leading to a clean, balanced finish.

Serve this organic Piedmont red slightly chilled at 60 to 64°F alongside robust preparations that benefit from its acidic lift and moderate alcohol. It cuts effectively through rich tomato-based sauces, making it a reliable match for traditional pasta with beef ragù or wood-fired grilled sausages. The mineral backbone and firm structure also stand up well to nutty, aged cheeses such as pecorino toscano or Parmigiano-Reggiano.
