2022 Vignerons du Castelas - Lirac Respelido (750ml)

Les Vignerons du Castelas was founded in 1952 by a handful of Rhône winemakers pooling their efforts, and has since grown into a cooperative of 45 to 50 winegrowing families farming 450 hectares near Rochefort du Gard, on the right bank of the Rhône between the Pont d'Avignon and the Pont du Gard. "Respelido," meaning rebirth in the local dialect, honors the estate's work reclaiming an abandoned vineyard, restoring old vines and replanting new ones. A blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, expect a nose of dark fruit and garrigue, with a full, well-structured palate showing ripe berry and a touch of spice through a satisfying finish. A genuine, well-priced expression of Lirac, a Southern Rhône appellation that often overdelivers relative to its more famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape neighbor.
