Named the #1 wine on James Suckling's Top 100 Wines of France 2026. Beaucastel is a Perrin family estate dating to 1549, farmed organically since 1950 and biodynamically since 1974, and now Demeter certified. The red is a Mourvèdre-driven blend with Grenache, Syrah, Counoise, and other Châteauneuf varieties. 2024 was a cooler, wetter vintage, and Suckling praised the result as spectacularly perfumed, with rose petal, cinnamon, raspberry, and blueberry, medium-bodied, with ultra-fine tannins and a seamless texture at 14% alcohol. Finesse over power, which is exactly why it stood out. Drink or hold.

99 Points
"The perfume is spectacular with rose petal, cinnamon, raspberry and blueberry yet always so subtle. It's medium-bodied with ultra-fine tannins and a seamless texture. It's 14% alcohol. The counoise whole cluster is opening up this wine with 10% counoise, 30% mourvedre, 30% grenache, 5% syrah, 5% cinsault, 10% other reds and 10% whites. The roussanne is fermented with mourvedre, the syrah with bourboulenc and the grenache with clairette. A dream to drink now. A Chateauneuf for today but a tribute to the past with such finesse. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink or hold."
