Maison Trimbach has stood as a benchmark for fine Alsace wine since 1626, with the family business currently overseen by brothers Pierre and Jean Trimbach, twelfth-generation stewards of a house built on structure, elegance, and balance. Riesling forms the backbone of the estate, accounting for half of Trimbach's total production, and this Classic bottling includes a meaningful portion of fruit from the family's Grand Cru holdings, a mark of quality even at the entry level of the range.

This wine is blended from estate and purchased fruit sourced across Alsace, drawing mainly on limestone soils with some sandstone and volcanic elements mixed in. After hand-harvesting, the grapes are crushed and gently pressed before fermenting in stainless steel, with no malolactic fermentation to preserve natural acidity and bright fruit character. The wine is bottled the following spring and rests in the cellar for at least a year before release, arriving fresh yet already showing some of the classic petrol notes Riesling develops with time.

The nose offers a wide range of citrus, crisp pear, and stone fruit aromas, unusually layered for a wine at this level. The palate is racy and medium-bodied, with chalky minerality playing against the cool fruit through a crisp, long finish full of vitality. It's a versatile match for sauerkraut, grilled or smoked fish, or simple roasted white meats.

91 Points
"The 2022 Riesling is from countless vineyards between Scherwiller in the north and the Vallé Noble in the south and mainly based on marl limestone soils. The nose is clear, fresh and intensely aromatic and even displays some Muscat and herbal/stony aromas..."
