2023 Massaya - Cinsault Rose Bekaa Valley (750ml)
Massaya was founded in the Bekaa Valley by brothers Sami and Ramzi Ghosn, who reclaimed their family's Tanaïl property after the Lebanese civil war and launched the winery in 1998 with French partners Dominique Hébrard of Château Cheval Blanc and the Brunier family of Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe. The collaboration paired deep Bordeaux and Rhône winemaking experience with Lebanon's ancient viticultural roots, and Massaya has since grown into one of the country's most recognized producers, helping lead a broader revival of Lebanese wine following decades of conflict.
This rosé is made from Cinsault grown on the hillsides of the Bekaa Valley, at altitudes reaching up to 1,200 meters, where cooler nights help the grapes hold onto fresh acidity despite the region's warm days. The vines benefit from a long history of cultivation in this part of Lebanon, an area with a viticultural tradition stretching back thousands of years. Grapes are hand-picked and pressed directly, then fermented in stainless steel to protect the wine's delicate color and fruit character, with no oak influence.
The wine pours a pale strawberry pink and offers bright red berry aromas layered with a subtle floral lift and a touch of spice. On the palate it is crisp, dry, and refreshing, with real freshness that belies its light color. It works well with Lebanese mezze, grilled fish, or lighter Middle Eastern dishes.
