Clement X.O. Rhum Vieux Agricole Rum 750ml
Rhum Clément traces its origins to 1887, when Homère Clément purchased the Domaine L'Acajou plantation in Le François, Martinique, at a moment when sugar prices had collapsed and most cane estates on the island were struggling. Inspired by the French brandies he had encountered as a young student in Paris, Clément shifted the property toward rum production, founding what became Habitation Clément. The Bernard Hayot Group has owned the estate since 1986 and continues to produce rum there according to the traditions passed down from Homère and his son Charles.
Clément XO carries the AOC Martinique designation, meaning it is distilled entirely from fresh sugarcane juice under strict regional standards. To earn the XO classification, the rhum must age a minimum of six years, and this bottling matures in a combination of virgin French oak barrels and re-charred casks, developing its character in Martinique's tropical climate before blending.
The rhum shows an amber color and an intense, layered nose of toasted cocoa, mocha, and dried fruit, with a floral note of dried wildflowers underneath. The palate turns deeply concentrated, offering dark chocolate, gingerbread, and warm cinnamon balanced by smoky oak, closing on a long finish of tobacco leaf, black pepper, and toasted hazelnut.
