Mister Fogg Navy Rum was created by Alexandre Gabriel, owner and master blender of Maison Ferrand, together with rum historian Matt Pietrek, after five years spent researching the rums once issued to sailors in the British Royal Navy. The rum takes its name from Michael Fogg, a Royal Navy veteran whose personal story helped launch the project, and its release in 2024 coincided with a companion book documenting three centuries of Royal Navy and London Dock rum traditions. Production takes place at Planteray's Barbados base before finishing at Maison Ferrand's cellars in Cognac.

The Sail No. 1 blend combines molasses based rums from four historic rum producing regions, roughly 43% Barbados for smoothness, 36% Trinidad for structure, 17% Guyana for intensity, and a smaller portion of Jamaica for bold ester character. After aging separately in the Caribbean, the component rums are shipped to southwest France, where they undergo a second maturation in used oak barrels and extended time in large open wooden vats along the river L'Antenne, a setting chosen to mimic the humid conditions of the old London rum docks. The finished blend is bottled at 55.7% ABV, matching the historic Navy proof standard once required for British naval rations.

The rum shows a rich, funky nose with ripe fruit and heavy molasses, developing into a full bodied palate of dark fruit, spice, and tannin, with real heat and length behind its overproof strength.
