Bumbu XO Rum 750ml

Bumbu Rum is produced by Sovereign Brands, the company behind Brett and Brian Berish, who have built a portfolio of buzzy spirits brands including Luc Belaire sparkling wines and McQueen and the Violet Fog Gin. Following the success of their original Bumbu expression, the brand introduced Bumbu XO as a more elevated, small batch offering, distilled and aged at a distillery in Panama with roots stretching back over a century.

Bumbu XO is crafted from local Panamanian sugarcane and spring water, then matured for up to eighteen years in ex-bourbon barrels. Before bottling, the rum receives a finishing period in white oak sherry casks imported from Andalusia, Spain, a step intended to round out the spirit and add another layer of complexity. The finished rum is bottled at 40% ABV and presented in a heavy black bottle marked with a golden metal X.

The nose offers toffee, toasted oak, and vanilla, while the palate turns toward orange zest, peppery spice, dried red fruit, and a hint of coffee. The finish is smooth and lingering, with baking spice carrying through to the end. Bumbu XO is well suited to sipping neat or over a single large ice cube, and also holds up in classic rum cocktails such as an Old Fashioned.
