Ministry of Rum Pot Still Gold (Hamilton) Rum 750ml
Ministry of Rum Pot Still Gold comes from the Hamilton line created by Ed Hamilton, founder of the online Ministry of Rum community and a longtime authority on Caribbean rum. Rather than distilling his own spirit, Hamilton works directly with historic estates to select and blend small batches under his own label, and this expression draws on Worthy Park Estate, one of Jamaica's oldest working sugar and rum operations.
Worthy Park mills its own sugarcane into molasses on site, then ferments it using three distinct proprietary yeast strains to produce extra light, light, and heavy pot still rums, each contributing a different weight and character to the final blend. The distillate is shipped in bulk totes at roughly 85% ABV to Five & Twenty Spirits in New York, where it is diluted down and given a touch of cane sugar-based caramel color before bottling at 46.5% ABV.
The rum carries the funky, ester-driven signature typical of Jamaican pot still production, with ripe banana and tropical fruit up front, layered over vanilla, caramel, and warm baking spice. A light touch of oak rounds out the body, leading into a finish that stays fruity rather than heavily woody, making it a versatile choice for sipping or building into cocktails.
