Ten To One Caribbean White Rum 750ml
Ten To One was founded in 2018 by Marc Farrell, a Trinidad born entrepreneur who went on to earn degrees from Cambridge and Harvard and became the youngest vice president in Starbucks history before turning his attention to rum. He set out to move Caribbean rum away from the pirate and plantation imagery that had long defined the category's marketing, building instead a brand centered on contemporary Caribbean culture and cross island collaboration. The name references a remark by Trinidad and Tobago's first prime minister, Eric Williams, made as the short lived West Indies Federation of ten nations was collapsing, that removing even one member left nothing behind, a nod to the strength found in unity.
The White Rum blends column distilled rum from the Dominican Republic with high ester pot still rum from Jamaica, pairing the clean, crisp character of column distillation with the funkier, more aromatic intensity typical of Jamaican pot stills. The blend is left unaged, bottled without added sugar, coloring, or flavoring, and remains unfiltered, a choice that leaves faint distillate particles visible in the bottle as evidence of its untouched production. It is bottled at 90 proof, notably higher than most white rums on the market.
The nose is bright and aromatic, with white pepper, jasmine, and honeysuckle over ripe citrus, while the palate carries tropical fruit like banana and pineapple through to a dry, mineral finish with more depth than a typical clear rum.
