2017 Tenuta di Ceppaiano - Toscana Rosso IGT Keith Haring
The 2017 Tenuta di Ceppaiano Toscana Rosso IGT “Keith Haring” combines Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot sourced from the sandy, mineral-rich vineyards along Italy’s Tyrrhenian coast. Produced by the Castellani family, this blend captures the regional terroir while commemorating a collaborative history between winemaker Piergiorgio Castellani and pop artist Keith Haring.
Haring originally designed the label artwork after working with Castellani on Pisa’s famous Tuttomondo mural. Decades later, the Castellanis released this commemorative cuvée to honor their friendship, directing a portion of proceeds to the Keith Haring Foundation.
Vinous profile: Grapes receive prompt fermentation in the estate’s modern cellar before aging in oak barrels, which builds volume and integrates subtle spice. Nose notes feature wild rose, dark cherry, cassis, licorice, vanilla, cedar, and tobacco. The medium to full body rests on fine, velvety tannins that lead into a lingering spiced finish.
Suggested pairings align with the wine’s structural warmth. Match it with herb-seasoned rotisserie chicken, charred lamb cuts, or smoky Mediterranean vegetable dishes to balance the tannic grip and highlight the savory aromatic layers.
