2021 Castello di Bossi - Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG (750ml)
Castello di Bossi is an estate in Castelnuovo Berardenga, the southernmost zone of Chianti Classico, set among evergreen woods and long rows of vines. Its history reaches back to the 9th century. Today the Bacci family owns the property, and Marco Bacci oversees every step from vineyard to cellar, balancing technological innovation with respect for the terroir of Chianti.
Gran Selezione is the top tier of the Chianti Classico DOCG, and it requires that all fruit come from the producer's own estate. This bottling is 100% Sangiovese from organically grown grapes, a selection of the best fruit from the family's Castelnuovo Berardenga vineyards in 2021. The wine is aged in large wooden casks and barriques, and the estate favors retaining a generous amount of tannin, a style that suits this designation well.
Deep ruby with garnet highlights, the wine opens with black cherry and plum, joined by violets, cedar, sweet baking spices, chocolate, and saddle leather. The palate is fleshy and dense, with tight but chewy tannins that carry through to a long, balanced finish. Structured and expressive, it is already drinkable and built to age gracefully for many years.
