2022 Carpineto - Chianti Classico HALF BOTTLE (375ml)
Carpineto was built on a partnership between winemaker Giovanni C. Sacchet and Antonio M. Zaccheo, growing into one of the more established, quality-focused names in Tuscany. The estate now exports the majority of its production to more than thirty countries, with a portfolio that runs from top DOCG appellations to varietal wines and proprietary blends. About ninety percent of what Carpineto makes is red, and much of that Riserva-level, aged three or more years before release.
This entry-level Chianti Classico is a blend of 90 percent Sangiovese and 10 percent Canaiolo, sourced from estate-owned vineyards spread across the picturesque hills of the Classico zone. Carpineto consistently ages its reds well beyond the minimum time required by DOCG rules, and this bottling follows that pattern, spending four to six months in a combination of stainless steel tanks and large Slavonian oak barrels before an additional four to six months of bottle aging ahead of release.
The wine is full-bodied with a velvety texture, opening with aromas of violets, wild berries, and cherry that carry through to a warm, slightly herbaceous palate touched with orange peel and wild fennel. Chalky, chewy tannins give it real structure beneath the fruit. Pour it with bistecca alla fiorentina, wild boar ragù, or an aged sheep's milk cheese.
