Bottled in a standard 750ml format, the 2023 Collosorbo Rosso di Montalcino DOC is a structured, mid-weight red built entirely from 100% Sangiovese cultivated at Tenuta di Collosorbo’s thirty-five-hectare vineyard in southern Montalcino. Sheltered by the prevailing winds of Mount Amiata and managed under strict organic practices, the estate sources fruit from two distinct plots: mature rows historically reserved for its flagship Brunello, alongside younger vines planted to deliver earlier-drinking flexibility.

After hand-harvesting and sorting, the grapes undergo temperature-controlled fermentation followed by moderate maceration to extract balanced phenolic compounds. The wine ages for approximately twelve months primarily in large-format Slavonian and French oak casks, with a small fraction resting in smaller barriques to modulate wood influence, followed by several additional months of bottle stabilization to ensure seamless acid-tannin integration.

Tasting Notes The pour reveals a vivid bright ruby appearance and an open aromatic profile anchored by ripe wild cherry, dried violet, and subtle Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, crisp acidity lifts layers of stone fruit and savory herbal spice, wrapped in smooth, well-integrated tannins that project a lively, persistent finish.

Suggested Pairings Its approachable structure and moderate weight make it an ideal match for herb-crusted grilled pork, chunky tomato-based pasta sauces, or cheese boards featuring fresh pecorino Toscano and aged salami.

89 Points
"Pouring a ruby color, the 2023 Rosso Di Montalcino has a fantastic nose with ripe aromas of spiced cherries, pine needles, and crushed flowers. Supple and medium to full-bodied, it's approachable and silky in texture, with ripe tannins and a clean finish...."
