Sourced from a small organic vineyard in San Felice just north of Castelnuovo Berardenga, this 2023 Le Boncie “Le Trame” captures the concentrated power and finesse characteristic of the southern Chianti Classico frontier. Winemaker Giovanna Morganti manages the three-hectare estate using strictly natural practices, pressing hand-destemmed Sangiovese into open-top wooden tanks for induction fermentation with wild yeast. After medium-sized barrel maturation, the wine undergoes a substantial bottle rest prior to release.

The 2023 vintage offers layered aromatics of dried red fruit, forest floor, and crushed herbs, translating to a structured, dark-fruited palate. Fresh grassy notes interlace with wet earth undertones, supported by velvety tannins that build steadily across a long, complex finish. The wine demonstrates clear extraction and disciplined acidity without masking its underlying mineral character.

The savory dryness and earthy profile pair naturally with rich, slow-cooked meats and aged dairy. Serve alongside wild boar ragù, braised short ribs, or rustic pasta dishes featuring heavy tomato and meat sauces. Hard aged Pecorino Toscano or cured wild game salumi also complement the wine’s tannic grip and herbal resonance.

Decant the bottle for sixty to ninety minutes before service to fully integrate youthful wood integration and unlock deeper aromatics. Keep the remaining stock stored in a cellar between 55–60°F, where the structural backbone will support sustained evolution through 2032 and beyond.
