2025 Delaporte - Sancerre Chavignol (750ml)
Based in the village of Chavignol, the only place in France to hold AOC status for both wine and cheese, Domaine Delaporte has been in family hands since the 17th century and was the first Sancerre producer to export to the United States. Matthieu Delaporte, who took over from his father in 2010 at just 22, has converted the estate to biodynamic farming and continues to push the domaine's quality higher. This cuvée is blended from 28 separate plots averaging 35 years of vine age, grown on a mix of Kimmeridgian limestone (Caillottes) and the region's signature flint soil (Silex), mostly on south-facing slopes. Hand-harvested, fermented and aged in stainless steel, and kept on fine lees for six months before an unfiltered, gravity bottling. Expect a bright, mineral-driven Sauvignon Blanc with citrus, blackcurrant, and chalky flint character, and real energy through the finish. A benchmark, archetypal expression of Chavignol Sancerre.
