Bunnahabhain Stiuireadair delivers a distinctly coastal Islay experience, blending maritime saltiness with heather sweetness and a whisper of traditional Highland peat. Produced by the Bruichladdich Distillery on Scotland’s western coast, this single malt Scotch whisky draws its name from the Scottish Gaelic term for helmsman, honoring the region’s centuries-old maritime heritage.

The maturation process carefully balances the fresh brine and citrus typically found in West Coast malts against a smoother, more approachable backbone. Tasting notes unfold as dried stone fruit, vanilla custard, toasted oak, and light saline minerality, landing on a clean finish that encourages repeated servings. This structured profile works equally well straight from the glass or cut with a measured splash of spring water to release aromatic complexity.

Packaged in a standard 750 ml vessel, Stiuireadair fits both dedicated collectors tracking authentic Islay bottlings from independent management and casual enthusiasts who prefer layered spirits that do not dominate the palate when mixed. Serve it at cellar temperature alongside aged cheddar, dark chocolate, or lightly smoked seafood to complement the natural maritime notes. Keep the bottle upright in a cool, dark space to preserve label integrity and liquid stability over time. For optimal enjoyment, pour directly into a tulip-shaped tumbler and allow two minutes for volatility before tasting.

" A new single malt from Bunnahabhain. The name might look somewhat intimidating, but it is easily pronounced as stew-radhur, and means Helmsman, a reference to the sea-going influence on this distillery. This whisky has been created by Dr. Kirstie McCallum, the master blender of Bunnahabhain, who has blended together whisky of different ages from first and second fill Sherry casks, found in the distillery's coastal warehouses. This is a rich and vibrant whisky, with a full sherry influence and lovely maritime edge. Drinkers should expect notes of sea spray, dried fruit, toffee and dark oak. The whisky is an unpeated Islay malt, is non chill filtered, and is bottled at 46.3% ABV which allows the flavours of the dram to really take hold. The packaging features an anchor and a rope, perfect for recalling the coastal elements to this fine dram!"
