Amrut Single Malt Whiskey 750ml

Amrut Distilleries was founded in 1948 in Bangalore, in the Indian state of Karnataka, and for decades focused primarily on blended whisky before venturing into single malt production in the early 2000s. This flagship expression launched in 2004 at a tasting in Glasgow, a deliberate strategy built on the idea that if Scottish whisky drinkers embraced an Indian single malt, the rest of the world would follow, and it went on to help reshape global perceptions of what Indian whisky could be.

The whisky is distilled from 100% malted barley grown in the Punjab region near the Himalayan foothills, fermented for roughly six days, and double distilled in copper pot stills using water sourced locally. It matures in a combination of new American oak and ex-bourbon barrels in Bangalore's warm, high-altitude climate, a tropical environment that accelerates aging considerably compared to Scotland. It carries no age statement, reflecting that accelerated maturation, and is bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration or added color.

The nose offers liquorice, toffee, and burnt honeycomb alongside allspice and roasted malt. On the palate, rich barley sweetness meets apricot, honey, and toasted oak, with a touch of baked apple. The finish is medium to long, drying, and gently spiced.
