Ardbeg Corryvreckan Whiskey 750ml
Ardbeg Corryvreckan is an intensely peated Islay single malt Scotch whisky that combines sharp briny maritime character with deep smoky complexity and structured fruit sweetness. Named after the Corryvreckan whirlpool located between Jura and Islay, this expression delivers some of the most concentrated peat aromas available in modern Scottish malting.
The spirit draws exclusively from Ardbeg’s lowland stores and matures in a precise combination of freshly charred American oak hogsheads, first-fill European oak butts, and Bourbon barrels. The youngest distillate blended into the final composition has aged nine years, allowing enough time for heavy phenolic compounds to integrate with residual vanillin and tannins without losing the distillery’s coastal saltiness. Bottled at 54.3% alcohol by volume and unchillfiltered, the liquid retains native oil fractions that carry aromatic compounds straight to the palate.
Initial nose contact reveals immediate wood smoke, kelp, and lime zest layered over crushed vanilla pods and dried apricot. Mid-palate shifts toward dark chocolate, cracked black pepper, cinnamon bark, and tart plum, while the extended finish settles into toasted seaweed, treacle, and a clean mineral dryness. This structural balance supports straightforward neat pours, chilled-on-the-rocks tasting, or measured use in heavily spiced Old Fashioned variations.
