Ardbeg Uigeadail Whiskey 750ml

Ardbeg distillery has crafted whisky on Islay's rugged Kildalton Coast since 1815, and it remains one of the island's most revered producers of heavily peated single malt. Now under the ownership of Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy, the distillery draws its water from Loch Uigeadail high in the surrounding hills, a peat-laden source that lends its name to this particular expression. Uigeadail is Gaelic for a dark, mysterious place, a fitting name for one of Ardbeg's most intense and celebrated core range whiskies.

This bottling begins with Ardbeg's classic heavily peated malt, peated to roughly 50 parts per million, matured in ex-bourbon American oak barrels. A portion is then vatted with whisky aged in Oloroso sherry casks, marrying the distillery's signature smoke with a rich, raisin-like sweetness. Uigeadail carries no age statement and is bottled at 54.2% ABV, non-chill filtered, giving it a fuller body and greater intensity than Ardbeg's standard strength releases.

The nose opens with warm Christmas cake, treacle toffee, and smoky coal fire, layered with walnut oil and a whisper of violets. On the palate, dark chocolate and honey-glazed smoked flavors meet waves of peat and winter spice, while the long finish closes on mocha, dried fruit, and a final trace of aromatic smoke.
