Bunnahabhain TOITEACH A DHA` Single Malt Whiskey 750ml

Bunnahabhain distillery sits on a remote stretch of Islay's northeastern coast, so isolated that it could only be reached by boat until a single-track road was finally built in the 1960s. Founded in 1881, the distillery is known within the whisky world for housing some of the tallest stills on the island and for a house style that runs against Islay convention: rather than leaning into heavy peat, Bunnahabhain has long specialized in a softer, unpeated malt built around coastal, honeyed character.

Toiteach a Dhà, Gaelic for "Smoky Two," is the distillery's follow-up to its original Toiteach, first released in 2008 as Bunnahabhain's initial foray into peated whisky. This NAS expression is distilled from peated malted barley and matured across a combination of American oak, mostly ex-bourbon casks, and sherry casks, bringing sherried richness together with a more restrained smoke than typical Islay malts. It is bottled at 46.3% ABV, non-chill filtered, and left with its natural color intact.

The nose brings dried fruit, oloroso sherry, and sea salt alongside a gentle, dry peat smoke. On the palate, roasted nuts, dark chocolate, and raisin sweetness meet peppery spice, with the smoke building gradually rather than dominating. The finish lingers with warm spice and a lasting trace of smoke, pairing nicely with grilled salmon or aged cheddar.
