Deanston Distillery occupies a former eighteenth-century cotton mill on the banks of the River Teith in Doune, Perthshire, in the Scottish Highlands. Converted into a working distillery in 1966, the site still draws power from its own hydroelectric plant on the river, a link to its industrial past that the distillery has preserved rather than replaced. Deanston has built its reputation on minimal intervention whisky making, favoring natural color and transparency over heavy processing.

The 12 Year Old is distilled from unpeated barley grown in Scotland and matured for a full twelve years in ex-bourbon casks. It is bottled without chill filtration or added coloring at 46.3% ABV, a slightly higher strength meant to preserve texture and depth. This straightforward approach lets the malt's natural sweetness and the bourbon wood's influence come through clearly.

The nose offers honey, orchard fruit, and light citrus zest over a base of malted barley. On the palate, creamy vanilla and toffee meet soft oak and a touch of warming spice, carried by the whisky's characteristically waxy texture. The finish is long and gently sweet, closing on lingering honey and malt.

"Crafted by hand and aged in ex-bourbon casks, this 12 year old Single Malt is delicate with gentle warmth for the perfect sharing moment.

With a smooth and creamy sweetness, sumptuous hints of fruit, malty honeyed spiciness and soft vanilla, this crisp 12 year old finishes with a satisfying tingle of cloves.
