Glendronach Port Wood Single Malt Whisky 750ml

GlenDronach was founded in 1826 by James Allardes in Scotland's Highland region and has passed through several owners over the years, now sitting under Brown-Forman. Throughout those changes, the distillery has held onto its reputation for rich, full sherry cask maturation, a style overseen today by Master Blender Dr. Rachel Barrie. Port Wood draws on a nineteenth-century tradition, when casked port shipped up the Douro River from Portugal was a staple in the cellars of Scotland's gentry, and the release is built as a tribute to that history.

The whisky begins its life in GlenDronach's signature combination of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, then spends a further three years finishing in port pipes sourced from the Douro Valley, bringing the total maturation to around a decade. It is bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration or added color, letting the layered cask influence show through clearly.

The color runs deep cherry wood, with aromas of Victoria plum, bramble, and strawberry jam layered over cherry blossom, honeysuckle, sandalwood, and ginger. The palate brings blackberry, dark chocolate, and orange zest, closing on a long, fruit-driven finish.
