Glenfiddich distillery was founded in 1886 by William Grant in Dufftown, in the heart of Speyside, and it remains family-owned today under William Grant & Sons. Its name comes from the Gaelic for valley of the deer, and the distillery has continued to expand production ever since, even growing output during Prohibition when many competitors struggled. In 1963, Glenfiddich became the first Scotch producer to market a single malt internationally, helping to establish the category as it exists today, and it remains one of the best-selling single malts in the world.

The 12 Year Old draws its water from the Robbie Dhu Spring near the distillery and matures in a combination of American ex-bourbon barrels and Spanish Oloroso sherry casks. Once fully aged, the whisky from both cask types is married together in large oak tuns, a step intended to harmonize the different cask influences before bottling. It is released at 40% ABV, a lighter proof that keeps the whisky approachable and easy-drinking.

The nose offers pear, green apple, and citrus alongside honey, vanilla, and a light touch of sherried fruit. On the palate, that same fruit-forward profile continues with a creamy, slightly oily texture, joined by malt, oak, and a whisper of baking spice. The finish is short to medium, closing gently on sweet vanilla and soft oak.
