Linkwood Distillery has operated in Elgin, in Scotland's Speyside region, since 1821, drawing its water from springs near Milbuies Loch. Now owned by Diageo, the distillery went through periods of mothballing over the decades, most recently pausing between 1985 and 1990, before returning to full production in 2008. Despite its long history, Linkwood remains one of Speyside's lesser-known names, prized by blenders for the balance it brings rather than sought out on its own.

This whiskey was distilled in 2006 and independently bottled by John Milroy, a respected UK bottler with a history of sourcing casks from well-regarded but under-the-radar distilleries. Bottled at eleven years of age from a single cask, the release was limited to 249 bottles worldwide, offering a rare look at Linkwood's character outside of blends like Johnnie Walker, where it typically plays a supporting role.

The nose opens with an immediate hit of vanilla, followed by butterscotch, caramel, and honeycomb over grassy, malted barley notes. On the palate, sweet and spicy flavors take over, with cotton candy, peach, banana, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The finish brings apple and herbaceous spice, with basil, mint, and pine carrying through to a medium close.
