The Macallan has crafted single malt whisky in Speyside, Scotland since 1824, and it remains one of the most recognized names in Scotch, known for its longstanding commitment to sherry-seasoned oak. A Night on Earth: The First Light is the fourth release in an ongoing annual series that explores how communities around the world welcome the new year. This edition draws inspiration from New Zealand, one of the first places on Earth to see the sun rise on January 1st, and features artwork created in collaboration with New Zealand artist Bonnie Brown.

The whisky is matured in a combination of sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks, with a smaller portion of ex-bourbon barrels rounding out the blend. This layered approach to maturation reflects The Macallan's traditional house style, built around wood management rather than a single dominant cask type. It is a non-age-statement release, bottled at 43% ABV with natural coloring.

The nose offers vanilla sweetness, buttery shortbread, and citrus zest, giving way to baked apple and berry compote. On the palate, caramelized marshmallow and creamy vanilla meet gentle oak spice, while the finish is long and warming, closing on a soft, lingering trace of toasted oak.
