Murray McDavid is an independent Scotch whisky bottler founded in 1994 by London wine merchants Mark Reynier and Simon Coughlin alongside Springbank's Gordon Wright. The company earned early recognition for maturing whisky in unconventional casks, especially ones drawn from the world of fine wine, and later led the reopening of the shuttered Bruichladdich distillery on Islay before selling that operation on. Murray McDavid now operates from Coleburn Distillery in Speyside, where its Whisky Creations team continues to source distinctive casks from around the world to refine single malts under its Benchmark and Cask Craft ranges.

This expression comes from Linkwood, established in 1821 and counted among Speyside's oldest working distilleries, long admired by independent bottling enthusiasts for its light, delicate, and fruit forward spirit. Rather than resting solely in traditional oak, this cask spent its final four years finishing in a Tawny Port barrique sourced from Caves de Murça in Portugal's Douro Valley, part of a long-standing cask partnership Murray McDavid has used across several Speyside releases to build richness without masking the underlying malt.

The nose leans toward mixed berries, honey, and gentle chocolate, while the palate turns toward dark stone fruit, toffee, and a nutty sweetness reminiscent of cake. A peppery, floral spice lingers into the finish, carrying the fruit through to the end.
