Old Pulteney distillery has stood in the fishing town of Wick, on Scotland's rugged Caithness coast, since 1826. Nicknamed "the Maritime Malt," the distillery draws on its harborside setting and long herring-trade history, and its whiskies are still matured in traditional dunnage warehouses that sit close enough to the North Sea to take on a distinct sea air influence during aging.

This 25 Year Old expression begins its life resting in American oak casks, where it develops over two decades before being transferred to Spanish oak butts that previously held Oloroso sherry for further maturation. The extended aging period allows the spirit to absorb briny coastal air alongside the richness of the sherry-seasoned wood, resulting in a whisky of considerable depth and complexity. It is bottled at 46% ABV.

On the nose, this whisky offers heather, toffee, and dried fruit alongside a whisper of sea salt. The palate brings dark chocolate, toffee, warm baking spice, and citrus, with a savory, salty edge that carries into a long, spiced finish. The whisky's layered character and lingering warmth make it a fitting choice for slow, contemplative sipping, whether by a fire or as a nightcap to mark a special occasion.
