Royal Brackla 12 yr Sherry Cask Single Malt 750ml
Royal Brackla distillery was established in 1817 by Captain William Fraser near Nairn in the Scottish Highlands, on the historic Cawdor Estate. In 1833, it became the first distillery ever granted a Royal Warrant, by King William IV, earning the nickname "The King's Own Whisky" and the right to carry the "Royal" prefix, a distinction shared by only a handful of Scotch producers. The distillery is now owned by Bacardi, operating under the Dewar's stable alongside Aberfeldy and Craigellachie.
This 12 Year Old expression is distilled from 100% malted barley and undergoes an extended fermentation before maturing in traditional oak casks, then receiving a finishing period in Oloroso sherry casks. It is bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered, and free of added coloring, allowing the natural amber hue and full texture of the whisky to come through. The sherry finish layers rich fruit and spice over the distillery's typically bright, fruit-forward Highland character.
On the nose, sherried fruitcake and buttered malt loaf lead into stone fruit, ripe peach, and dried apricot. The palate brings black cherry and chocolate-covered almonds alongside brown sugar and warming baking spice, with hints of cinnamon and clove adding depth. A medium-length finish closes on toasted oak and a final trace of citrus.
