Springbank 10 yr Whiskey 700ml
Springbank Distillery was established in 1828 by the Reid family on the Kintyre peninsula in Campbeltown, once one of Scotland's most important whisky-producing regions. The distillery passed to the Mitchell family, relatives of the Reids, in 1837 and was formally incorporated as J. & A. Mitchell & Company in 1897, the same family that still owns it today. Springbank is notable for being one of the very few Scottish distilleries that handles the entire production process on site, from malting its own barley on traditional floor maltings through distillation, barreling, and bottling.
The 10 Year Old is made from 100% malted barley and undergoes a distinctive partial triple distillation process unique to the distillery. It is matured in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks for a decade, then bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration or added coloring, preserving the whisky's natural character and deep coppery gold hue.
The nose is sweet and fruity with a savory, smoky edge, offering honeycomb, milk chocolate, vanilla fudge, and dried fruit alongside gentle earthy peat. On the palate, that sweetness continues with golden syrup and light tropical fruit, joined by soft peat smoke, baking spice, and a distinctive note of sea salt. The finish is long, warming, and gently smoky, with a lingering dryness.
