Springbank 12 yr Cask Strength (Pf 111) Single Malt Whiskey 700ml

Springbank Distillery has operated in Campbeltown since 1828 and remains one of the last family-owned distilleries in Scotland, still controlled by the Mitchell family through J. & A. Mitchell & Company. It stands apart for handling every stage of production on site, including its own floor malting, and for its distinctive partial triple distillation process, giving the spirit a character unlike anything else in the region. The 12 Year Old Cask Strength has been released twice yearly since 2010, with each batch varying slightly in cask composition and proof.

The whisky is distilled from 100% malted barley and matured for 12 years using a blend of casks that typically leans heavily on first- and second-fill sherry casks alongside ex-bourbon barrels, with the exact ratio shifting from batch to batch. It is bottled without chill filtration or added coloring, at cask strength, which for this particular batch comes in at 111 proof, or 55.5% ABV.

The nose brings peat smoke and coastal salinity together with fresh fruit, grilled peach, red apple, and a touch of floral perfume balancing the malt. On the palate, rich dried fruit and baking spice meet honeyed sweetness and gentle smoke, giving way to a long, evocative finish of hay, orchard fruit, and lingering maritime character.
