The ImpEx Collection Dailuaine Distillery 14 yr Single Malt Whiskey 750ml
The ImpEx Collection is the flagship series from ImpEx Beverages, a global spirits importer led by President and Keeper of the Quaich Sam Filmus. The company has built a reputation for sourcing rare, single-cask expressions from distilleries across Scotland and beyond, bottling each release with full transparency around age, cask type, and strength. This particular expression comes from Dailuaine, a Speyside distillery notable as the first in Scotland to feature a pagoda roof, a design later adopted throughout the industry, and whose malt is more commonly found in blends than released on its own.
This single malt was distilled in 2009 and matured for 14 years in a single hogshead cask, numbered 312079, before bottling. Only 250 bottles were produced from this cask, and in keeping with ImpEx's standard practice, it was bottled without chill filtration or added color, at a robust cask strength of 56.8% ABV. That strength and untouched presentation let the distillery's underlying character come through with unusual clarity, offering a rare look at Dailuaine outside the sherry cask influence more typical of its official releases.
The nose opens with coconut oil, tangerine, and ripe apricot, rounded out by vanilla and honeysuckle in a distinctly perfumed lift. On the palate, apricot and tangerine continue to dominate, joined by a touch of fennel and a noticeably waxy texture, with warmth building steadily on the tongue. The finish carries the apricot through before shifting toward green apple, a bright close that lingers well after the last sip.
