De Wetshof Estate, located in the Robertson Wine Valley of South Africa, was the first registered wine estate in the region and helped pioneer its dry white wine tradition. Danie de Wet became a driving force behind South African Chardonnay, and in 1981 De Wetshof became the first estate in the country to commercially market both Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Today the third generation, brothers Johann and Peter, continue the estate's focus on site-specific, limestone-driven winemaking, and the property has earned recognition as South Africa's leading Chardonnay House.

Bon Vallon is sourced from vineyards planted on soils rich in limestone and broken mountain rock, terroir shaped over millions of years by calcified termite mounds in the Breede River Valley. The grapes are picked cool in the early morning and fermented entirely in stainless steel, with no oak influence at all. The wine then rests on its lees for several months with regular stirring, building texture and depth while preserving the bright, mineral character the vineyard is known for.

The result is a fresh, unwooded Chardonnay with citrus, white peach, and wildflower aromas, joined by hints of toasted almond and a nuanced mineral finish. Bright acidity keeps the palate lively despite its creamy texture. It pairs well with oysters, roast pork, creamy pasta dishes, or grilled white fish.

90 Points
"Sliced apples, blanched almonds and peaches on the nose, followed by a medium- to full-bodied, juicy palate. Creamy, soft finish. Sustainable. Drink now."
