2025 Envinate -Garnacha Tintorera Albahra (750ml)
Envínate is four friends who met at university and now make some of the defining wines of Spain’s “New Spain” movement, with an obsession for old vines, obscure local grapes, and wines that taste like where they’re from. Albahra is the entry point to the range, and the one Mediterranean cuvée in a lineup best known for Atlantic wines. It’s built on Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet, the rare red-fleshed grape) with Moravia Agria and other local varieties, from high-elevation vineyards in Almansa, around 800 meters. Whole-cluster and native-yeast fermentation, aged in concrete to keep it fresh. Expect violets, blue fruit, dark cherry, and Mediterranean herbs, juicy and medium-bodied with fine tannins and a savory finish. Wine Advocate has repeatedly called it a bargain for the quality it delivers. Great with lamb, grilled sausages, or anything off the grill, and lightly chilled in warm weather.
