Blue Note Juke Joint Uncut Straight Bourbon Whiskey 750ml
Blue Note Juke Joint Uncut Straight Bourbon comes from B.R. Distilling Company, a Memphis, Tennessee producer whose Blue Note brand pays tribute to the city's deep blues heritage. Rather than distilling in-house, the company sources its bourbon from a Kentucky distilling partner and brings it to Memphis, where it matures near the confluence of the Mississippi and Wolf Rivers. The dramatic swings between long, hot summers and cooler evenings there push the whiskey deep into the wood, shaping the bold character the Uncut expression is known for.
This Kentucky straight bourbon is built on a mashbill of seventy percent corn, twenty-one percent rye, and nine percent malted barley, then aged a minimum of four years. As the name suggests, it is bottled uncut and unfiltered, so no water is added to bring it down to a standard proof, resulting in a variable, barrel-driven strength that typically lands in the high fifties to low sixties percent alcohol by volume. This hands-off approach preserves the whiskey's natural oils and concentrated flavor straight from the barrel.
The nose is fruit-forward, with freeze-dried strawberry, cherry cobbler, and black tea sweetened with honey. On the palate, chocolate-covered cherries take the lead, joined by bright lemon, grated ginger, and warm brown sugar spice. The finish is long and inviting, drawing the drinker back for another sip.
