Crafted at the highly regarded Chichibu Distillery in Saitama Prefecture, Ichiro’s Malt & Grain combines traditional pot‑stilled malt whisky with smooth continuous‑column grain whisky, delivering a refined Japanese blended spirit designed for consistent sipping enjoyment. Each 700‑milliliter bottle reflects the precise proportioning and oversight of master blender Ichiro Akuto.

Composition & Production Method

This expression bridges two distinct manufacturing processes to achieve structural harmony. The malt component derives from locally sourced barley processed through copper pot stills, contributing deep cereal richness and a substantial mouthfeel. The grain portion utilizes modern continuous columns for efficient fermentation, lending lighter sweetness and broad approachability. Together, the two streams mature in previously used bourbon and sherry seasoned oak barrels, where wood contact slowly extracts vanillin, lignin derivatives, and tannins that round sharp edges without masking the underlying grain character.

Flavor Profile & Serving Suggestions

Pouring reveals a clear amber appearance carrying primary aromas of vanilla cream, raw honey, and stewed apples, followed by secondary notes of toasted almond, sun‑dried apricots, and faint black pepper. Bottled at a smooth entry point for neat pours, on ice in a heavy tumbler, or as the foundation for a classic Old Fashioned or Japanese Highball. For optimal consistency, store upright between 10°C and 15°C, shielded from UV exposure and extreme temperature shifts. Once opened, consume within six to twelve months when the seal has been broken and internal pressure changes alter aromatic volatility.
