Ocho Plata OVERPROOF Puntas 2024 Tequila 750ml

Tequila Ocho Puntas is a 54% abv, overproofed expression of Ocho Plata. Historically, the "Puntas" agave spirits have been considered the most coveted part of a distillate and are traditionally set aside by the producer to be enjoyed with friends and family on special occasions. Puntas are a very selective "cut" at the early stages of distillation and the quantity produced is limited. Despite being overproof, this cut bring a high concentration of bright flavors while remaining extremely enjoyable to sip and savor neat. Like all of Tequila Ocho, only three ingredients are used: agave, natural airborne yeast, and water. Production is done the slow, artisanal way with patience in each step. Solely overripe agaves are harvested from the Golden Triangle of Los Altos de Jalisco before being slow-cooked in brick ovens for 48 hours and laid to cool for another 24 hours. The agaves are roller-mill crushed, fermented using natural airborne yeast, and double-pot distilled at low temperatures, first in stainless steel with copper components, second in full copper pots. On the nose, it offers agave, dried fruits, and salted caramel. The palate is incredibly bright, featuring cacao spiciness, citrus, and butterscotch ending in a long, creamy finish.
