Sourced from Radda in Chianti’s north-facing slopes at roughly 450 meters, the 2019 Caparsa Caparsino delivers the pronounced lift and structured backbone typical of the zone’s fractured alberese and galestro geology. The Cianferoni family has managed this estate under strict organic protocols since 2005, maintaining dense canopy spacing and cover crops to stabilize local hydrology.

Hand-harvested Sangiovese clusters ferment on their skins using only native cultures inside traditional cement vats. Before bottling, the wine rests unfined and unfiltered for twelve months inside 1,800-liter wooden casks. That specific volume moderates oxygen exchange, yielding a polished texture without introducing conspicuous wood spice.

Sensory Profile

The bottle opens with vivid sweet cherry, sun-warmed raspberry, and a sharp thread of sea salt. Secondary aromatics of crushed limestone, dried marjoram, and cracked black pepper sit cleanly above a medium-weight frame. Bright malic acid maintains vertical energy, while tightly knit tannins bridge toward a prolonged, cinnamon-dusted conclusion.

Food Pairings

  • Panzanella built with acidic tomatoes and aged Pecorino Toscano
  • Oven-roasted pork loin with rosemary and garlic jus
  • Firm cheese boards served with lightly candied honeycomb
93 Points
"This organic wine shows a humorous sketch on the front label of an old man with a traditional Chianti flask. The Caparsa 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva Caparsino offers a pretty spread of dark fruit, ripe berry nuances, toasted spice and earth. It's all Sangiovese matured in large oak casks. This plush, medium-bodied red represents a production of 12,000 bottles all said and done."
