Barone Ricasoli holds the distinction of being the oldest winery in Italy and one of the oldest family businesses in the world, with roots tracing back to 1141 at Brolio Castle in Chianti. The family's most lasting contribution came from Baron Bettino Ricasoli, who served twice as Italy's prime minister and spent decades refining the formula that would become the standard recipe for Chianti wine. That long history of experimentation still shapes the estate's approach to blending today.

Antico Feudo is a Tuscan red built from 60 percent Sangiovese, 25 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, and 15 percent Merlot, each variety fermented separately in steel tanks for around two weeks. After fermentation, the wines are blended and aged for eight to nine months in tonneaux that have already seen two or three previous fillings, a choice that softens the oak's influence and keeps the fruit at the forefront. The result balances Sangiovese's structure with the roundness of the international varieties.

The nose shows cherry, blueberry, and bramble alongside notes of loamy earth and gentle oak spice, while the palate brings boysenberry and mulberry framed by bright acidity and rounded tannins. The finish lingers with soft wood and savory fruit tones. This is a natural match for grilled steak, roast lamb, or a wedge of aged Parmesan.
