Altesino sits amid the eastern hills of Montalcino near Siena in central Tuscany, operating out of a magnificently elegant 14th-century palazzo. The estate was a consistent innovator — it became the first Montalcino producer to introduce single-vineyard cru wines, with its Montosoli Brunello considered among the region's finest.  Today's winemaking team is led by Simone Giunti and Alessandro Ciacci.

Viticulture & Winemaking

Altesino sources the Rosso entirely from select Sangiovese Grosso grapes from younger vines across the Altesino, Pianezzine, Macina, and Castelnuovo dell'Abate vineyards. After fermentation in stainless steel, the wine ages in large oak barrels of varied maturity for six to eight months, followed by three months in bottle

92 Points
"An attractive nose of minerals, ripe red and blue fruit and touches of violets, black olives and stones. The palate is smooth and juicy, with a medium body and lively fruit in the middle. Balanced and focused. Drink or hold."
—James Suckling-James Suckling
