2020 Bott-Geyl - White Blend Points Cardinaux Metiss (750ml)
Domaine Bott-Geyl traces its family history back to 1795, when ancestor Jean-Martin Geyl first tended vines in the region. Jean-Christophe Bott has led the domaine since 1993, converting the vineyards to organic farming in 2000 and to biodynamic practices in 2002. Today the estate spans fifteen hectares across seven communes, including six Grand Cru sites, with Bott favoring low yields and a natural, minimalist approach in the cellar that lets the land's character speak through the finished wine.
Points Cardinaux Métiss is a field blend of forty percent Pinot Blanc, forty percent Pinot Auxerrois, ten percent Pinot Gris, and ten percent Pinot Noir, grown on two and a half hectares of twenty to twenty five year old vines in Béblenheim and Zellenberg, planted in clay, marl, and limestone soils. The inclusion of Pinot Noir, a red grape, follows the traditional blanc de noirs method, in which the skins are removed from the fermenting juice before any red color develops, leaving a wine built more on texture and depth than on any single variety's imprint.
The wine is rich and aromatic, with soft citrus notes leading into gentle mandarin peel and a bright core of citrus freshness. Despite its weight, it stays precise and focused rather than heavy, finishing clean and long. It's a flexible partner for grilled fish, roast chicken, quiche, or dishes with a touch of spice.
