2022 Fautor - Cabernet Feteasca Neagra Valul lui Trajan 310 Altitudine (750ml)
Fautor is a family-owned winery founded in the late twentieth century in Moldova's Tigheci microzone, part of the Valul lui Traian appellation in the south of the country. Between 2003 and 2006 the family invested in modern winemaking equipment and expanded its vineyards to their current size of more than 350 hectares. Fautor has since become one of Moldova's most decorated producers, earning recognition as the country's most awarded winery in consecutive years and picking up top honors at major international competitions.
This wine takes its name, "310 Altitudine," from the elevation of the vineyards within Valul lui Traian, a region that sits at roughly the same latitude as Bordeaux. The blend combines Cabernet Sauvignon with Fetească Neagră, an indigenous Moldovan variety, grown on the rolling terrain of the Tigheci microzone, considered one of the country's premier sites for both red and white wine production. The grapes are harvested at full ripeness and vinified using modern techniques, producing a wine with a full, structured character.
The finished wine shows a garnet-red color with ruby-brown tints, and its bouquet mixes black currant and dried plum with a touch of freshly ground pepper. On the palate it is rich and velvety, with cherry notes and dense, well-structured tannins that finish smooth rather than grippy. It pairs well with juicy roasted meats or savory cheese pastries.
