2022 Fautor - Feteasca Neagra-Tempranillo Valul lui Trajan Aurore (750ml)

Fautor Winery is based in the Tigheci microzone, part of the Valul lui Traian wine region in southern Moldova, an area regarded as one of the country's finest for both red and white wines. The winery has been recognized repeatedly as Moldova's most awarded producer in recent years, building a reputation around rare varieties and unusual blends not found elsewhere in the country's wine scene.

Aurore pairs Fetească Neagră, an indigenous black grape variety native to Moldova and Romania, with Tempranillo, the signature red grape of Spain, an unconventional match that reflects Fautor's approach to blending. The two varieties are vinified together at 14 percent alcohol, combining the structure and rustic character typical of Fetească Neagră with the fruit and roundness Tempranillo is known for elsewhere.

The wine shows a festive ruby color and an elegant bouquet of cherries and sour cherries layered with black pepper and violets, set against a subtly rustic background. On the palate it is full bodied with well integrated tannins and a long, persistent finish carrying fruity, lightly spiced notes. It pairs well with lamb, beef, pasta bolognese, game, or hearty grilled dishes.
