2023 Amelie & Charles Sparr - Cerisier en Fleur White (750ml)

Amélie and Charles Sparr both grew up in Alsatian winegrowing families, and Charles carries the name of a house with deep roots in the region, the Sparr family having tended vines there since 1634. His great-grandfather Pierre Sparr built a well-known negociant business that was sold to a local cooperative in 2007, but Charles kept a small parcel and bought his first vineyard at just sixteen. After meeting Amélie in 2010, the couple began converting the family holdings to organic farming and launched their own label in 2013, working from cellars in Wettolsheim on properties now certified organic and biodynamic.

Cerisier en Fleur is their take on the classic Alsatian Gentil, a blend of Riesling, Muscat, and Pinot Blanc grown on gravel, clay, and limestone soils. The wine ferments spontaneously in stainless steel to keep its fruit character bright, finishing dry with very little residual sugar.

The nose carries a gentle floral lift from the Muscat, while the Riesling brings clean, energetic acidity that keeps the wine feeling fresh and lively. It drinks juicy and food-friendly, equally at home as an aperitif or alongside fried foods, spiced dishes, roast white meats, or pungent cheese.
